“We did it! Throughout the entire task, TLI never wavered in our commitment to empowering the youth and adults of Agan community in Benue, Keana in Nasarawa, and students in Enugu and Abuja. With our seminars, workshops, training and one-on-one coaching, we were able to successfully engage and equip these individuals with the necessary skills to succeed. Not only that, but our programs were broadcasted on TV and radio to reach a wider audience across Nigeria and the world. We are proud to be affiliated with SAGE- Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship, a California State University initiative on global entrepreneurship for young students worldwide. Our Story

The Torch of Liberty is a non-profit organisation founded by two visionary leaders who shared a common goal of promoting human development. Commencing operations from a modest office in Bwari, Abuja, Nigeria, the organisation has since relocated to the prestigious Central Business District (CBD) of Abuja. Today, TLI is proud to have extended its reach by establishing a diaspora office in San Antonio, Texas, USA.

Over the past nine years, TLI has received recognition from both the US Embassy in Nigeria and the British High Commission. Discussions with representatives from the Embassy’s Human Rights Office focused on potential collaboration opportunities for development projects. Furthermore, TLI has been privileged to interact with high-level officials such as Nigeria’s Honorable Minister for Youth and Sports Development, the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), and the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), who commended the organisation for its commendable humanitarian services.

In addition to local and international collaborations with agencies, corporations, civil society and private individuals, TLI has been actively involved in addressing various social challenges such as food shortages in IDP camps and distributing palliatives during the Covid-19 pandemic. The organisation has also initiated the “TALK” FOOD BANK to support indigent families in the future.

Torch of Liberty is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization based in the USA. It was established in Abuja Nigeria in 2012 before receiving approval to operate in the USA and is currently located in San Antonio, Texas. TLI, as it is commonly known, was officially incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in June 2012 and received RC 56219 as its registration number. The organization is dedicated to providing humanitarian services to reduce the alarming rates of extreme poverty globally, focusing primarily on Africa. We recognize the significant gap between the rich and poor in the 21st century and aspire to surpass mere conversation to take actionable steps to eradicate global poverty. Therefore, we implore you to join us in making a difference by showcasing your light of kindness and ultimately transforming the world.

Raphael is a highly skilled and driven IT professional with a proven track record in business development strategy and effective management. He began his career as a dedicated volunteer at the esteemed non-profit organization, Young Stars Foundation, where he gained invaluable experience in tackling human development challenges. With a deep passion for creating positive change, Raphael later went on to co-found the Torch of Liberty Initiative, further showcasing his ambitious and determined nature. His outstanding leadership skills, coupled with his exceptional technical knowledge and business acumen, make him a highly sought after expert in his field. Raphael’s dedication to improving the lives of others is evident in his impressive achievements, making him a true asset to any team or project he is involved with.

RAPHAEL OCHEJE. USA Director

Prior to the aforementioned, the individual in question assumed the role of logistics manager at Procter and Gamble, where he demonstrated a stellar work ethic for a duration of no less than 8 years. Subsequently, he transitioned to ProPetro services in Midland, Texas, USA. Raphael is currently serving as the Director of TLI’s Texas, USA office. He is credited for designing the non-profit organization’s strategic work plan and for pioneering the innovative concepts T.A.L.K (Try A Little Kindness) and “Bonfire”, the merchandising department of TLI. Raphael has been the technical go-to-man for the non-profit since its inception, expertly designing each template that has supported its projects up to date. These cutting-edge projects have significantly impacted numerous lives across the globe.

Raphael is a seasoned professional with a wealth of knowledge and experience in business strategy, technical input, information technology, and more. He has attended several local and international workshops and courses in these areas. In 2019, he was among the exclusive invitees for a leadership forum tagged “meet Pres. Barack Obama” held in Texas, where he had a rare opportunity to interact with the ex-President.

Raphael has an MBA in Analytics at the University of Texas, Permian Basin and an associate degree in Energy Technology from Midland College, Texas, USA.also Scrum certified.n

Malcolm is a highly skilled financial expert and social entrepreneur with over 17 years of experience in the development of human resources and financial services across national and international platforms. As a co-founder and executive director of the Torch of Liberty Initiative and CEO of Financial and Business Intelligence Services Inc., he combines the very best financial planning techniques with top-notch investment management practices. He has a passion for empowering individuals and organizations to achieve their financial goals and objectives. Malcolm’s vast knowledge and experience in the industry make him an invaluable asset to any team.As the Executive Director of TLI, he has been responsible for overseeing all operations of the non-profit organization in a highly competent manner for the past eight years. In addition to his tenure at TLI, he has also spent nine years as a distinguished banker.

MALCOLM VINGIL

Global Executive Director

Prior to that, he gained valuable experience and insight during his brief tenure at Procter and Gamble before transitioning to private practice where he has continued to focus on financial and human development. His extensive background in these fields has equipped him with a unique perspective that has proven to be invaluable to his role at TLI.

At TLI, he visited the US Embassy in Abuja where he discussed potential technical collaboration and assistance with the Human Rights Officer. This allowed him to expand his knowledge and professional relationships.

Malcolm is a highly accomplished individual with vast experience in various sectors. He has served as a supervisor with the European Union Election Observer Mission to Nigeria and is a veteran judge of S.A.G.E. (Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship), a California State University, USA initiative on entrepreneurship development for young minds via global school competitions. He is also a producer, anchor, and motivational speaker with his on-air drive for patriotism, “Love Nigeria,” running on Rhythm and Capital FMs Abuja as well as 042 Television, ESBS, Enugu.

Malcolm is a qualified social worker holding B.Sc. degrees from the University of Jos and the University of Nigeria (UNN) in Social Development and Social Work, respectively. He is also a fellow of Liberty International, USA. He has attended various courses and workshops, making him an expert in leadership, entrepreneurship, business development, customer services, and civil services. Malcolm is a renowned consultant, business owner, coach, and mentor who advises small businesses on financial education, creative writing, public speaking, and grooming, and also writes and directs business plans upon request.
